The team picture was
taken by a guy named Bill Sawyer or Jeff Wilson. Jeff was the
owner of Jeffrey Dale Surfboards. I have located Jeff. He
is living in Florida and will be updating our album page soon with a
bunch of new old pic's. Still looking for Dave Kelly and Jim
Harper,Ray Alger, among others. There are several others that I
can't remember right now, but if anyone knows the where-abouts of
anyone that surfed Brookhurst St., River Jetties, Poche, SanO, or hung
out at the Anaheim Surf Center in around 1965, please e-mail me.

Every one of us are in our 50's going on 19.
made a 10 degree
drop in just a few days. Some said 55, but I think it was closer
to 57 degrees. That is a long way from 68 the week before.
The surf was 2 to 4' for most of the week, with a swell hitting on
Saturday. 5' waves and glassy conditions were great. The
crowds weren't bad either. The contest on Friday was a war.
Three great surfers that made the final cut surfed it out in 2' bumpy
waves at
The Point, San
Onofre. Dave Douglas got 1st, logging the most waves and the
longest ride. Dave Talmage got 2nd and Jim Pomeroy took
3rd. (I want to see the films.) The party and awards
banquet on Friday was a hoot. It was held at the Round Table
Pizza in Capistrano, off Camino De Estrella. The pizza was great
as usual and we got the big screen to work. We showed old surf
movies and told a lot of lies. It was great. This was the
first year we actually had trophys.
I scored them at
a garage sale Friday morning. Kathleen spiffied them up with
a Sharpie with
the correct dates and names. This year DJ got an award for being
the Grommet of the year. We got some good footage and a bunch of stills
and will get them out asap. For those of you that didn't make it,
you were missed. It was still more fun than most of us can pack
in, in 5 days.
